Perhaps most of you are familiar with the beautiful beaches in Nusa Penida. At least, you’ve stumbled upon the images of those beaches on Instagram—Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, or Atuh Beach. But if I ask you to name one beach located in Nusa Lembongan, will you be able to name a few?
Yes, you will, after reading about these six beautiful beaches to go to while you’re in the tropical Nusa Lembongan.
Jungut Batu
Unless you’re traveling by a private cruise ship or a chopper, you’re gonna step foot on the shore of Jungut Batu because most of the public and fast boat vendors land their boat there. Interestingly, although there are many boats parked there, the beach retains its beauty. The combination of turquoise water, the white sands, and the floating boats make the scenery more lovely.
But don’t bother unpacking your snorkeling gear there because nothing to see underwater. (If you have a scuba diving license, visit one of several dive centers scattered around to experience Nusa Lembongan’s underwater.) Since it is located on the western side of Nusa Lembongan, Jungut Batu is for those who love the sunset.
Mushroom Bay
The beach is only ten minutes away from Jungut Batu. Mushroom Bay is also home to several boat vendors) and hotels and bars.
Apparently, though it may still feel great, swimming amongst the boats in Mushroom Bay is not that appealing, especially when there are a lot of restless people waiting to be transported to the island of Bali. If you want to experience Mushroom bay, you can just sit leisurely on one of the barstools and enjoy your favorite drinks.
Tamarind Bay
Tamarind Bay and Mushroom Bay are only separated by a small cape. Similar to the neighboring Mushroom Bay, you’ll also find lots of cozy accommodations such as beachfront bungalows around this bay.
Several days staying at one of those bungalows, doing nothing except drinking cold beer and reading your favorite novel will be the best thing to do. Should you suddenly have an urge to plunge yourself into the ocean, all you have to do is stepping down your stairs.
Devil’s Tear Bay
They name it Devil’s Tear for a reason. When hitting a limestone cliff, the frenzied ocean wave of Indian ocean splashes up as if it comes from the back of a whale. Somehow, people associate the phenomenon with the devil’s tear. Insider’s tip; the best time to visit this beach is when the tide is high. Going there while the tide is low will just gonna let you down, because, instead of a spectacular view of the natural hardcore fountain, you will see a deserted range of cliffs surrounded by a calm body of water. It’s only seven minutes driving from Mushroom Bay.
Sandy Bay (Sunset Beach)
When the tide of Devil’s Tear becomes really high right before sunset, it is advisable for you to walk up to the beach adjacent to it, a beautiful stretch of sands called Sandy Bay.
Visiting it in the right season will expose you to one of the beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see. The sun will shine on the horizon like a gargantuan cosmic orange surrounded by a yellowish sky.
Scooby Doo Beach
The beach is located in front of a beachfront cafe and bungalow named—of course—Scooby Doo. “So why they name it Scooby Doo?” People say it has something to do with the fact that this bungalow’s (or used to be) rather hard to find. So within the heart of everyone’s looking for its whereabouts the soundtrack of Scooby Doo—”Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?”—will echo.
In spite of its unique name, Scooby Doo Beach is beautiful. The sands are fine, the water is calm, and the ambiance is relaxing. No wonder some people claim Scooby Doo as one of the most lovely beaches in Nusa Lembongan. And, enjoying the scenic sunset with your loved one from Scooby Doo Beach will upgrade your “romantic” standard.
